RE-POD from March 20, 2005: Now that I have changed the subscription feed at podcast.penmachine.com, I’ll be mixing in some older tracks with the new ones, so you can get some of the music you might have missed if you haven’t been a long-term subscriber.
This is “Hotcake Syrup” (4.2 MB MP3 file), where after not releasing anything in several months back in early 2005, I plugged my Strat into the SansAmp GT2 amp simulator, then into the eMac, and let 'er rip. It's a sugary, head-boppin' combination of British overdrive guitar, three drum tracks, Clavinet, SVT-style bass, and a hint of bleepy synth-percussion goodness. Yum.
In August 2005, “Hotcake Syrup” was featured on CBC Unplugged, a podcast by locked-out CBC radio employees on the picket line, and since then has become the opening theme for the diabeticfeed podcast, who didn’t know I was diabetic when they chose it, but later interviewed me in January 2006 after they figured that out. (Hey, I only now realize the irony of using a track called “Hotcake Syrup” for a show about diabetes.)
