The Penmachine

The strange thing I call the penmachine (see below) is actually a fractal -- an infinitely self-similar mathematical object. This particular one is a Julia Set, the properties of which can be determined from one coordinate point on the much more famous Mandelbrot Set.

And, not being a mathematician, I don't know much more about it than that. But it sounded impressive, didn't it?
