Those of us who use computers a lot forget how difficult and frustrating they can be to beginners -- and we often ignore how difficult and frustrating they continue to be for us.
Some years ago Dr. Phil Agre of UCLA wrote a short piece on
how to help beginners learn to use computers. I just found it, and it's easily worth the few minutes it takes to read.
