Crossing the Strait

Active Pass WakeTourists to a particular area often do things locals never have. For instance, I live in southwestern coastal British Columbia and have a degree in marine biology, but I've never been whale watching. But one trip I love to take, winter or summer, is the ferry from Tsawwassen south of Vancouver to Swartz Bay near Victoria.

It always provides spectacular scenery, whether a sunset or cloudy silhouette. Sometimes getting to the trip can be a pain, especially on a rainy long weekend with two kids in the back of the station wagon. But that, and the hotel with room service at the other end, is usually well worth it.
