Google gives everyone a free feed reader

Permalinks to this entry: individual page or in monthly context. For more material from my journal, visit my home page or the archive.

google_feedreaderHere’s how:

  1. Go to Google.com (.ca doesn’t have the required links yet) and choose the Personalized Home (google.com/ig) link (google.ca/ig will work, by the way).
  2. Click Add Content in the upper left.
  3. Click Create a Section at the bottom of the sidebar that appears.
  4. Put an RSS feed URL into the text box and click Go.
  5. You can move the resulting feed news box around in the home page.
  6. Click Edit above the feed items to select how many you want in the list.

Wouldn’t work well for many feeds, but certainly it’s verrrry interesting.

UPDATE: You need Gmail or a free Google account, and to be signed in, for this to work.
