Welcome to 2005

I was trying to think of what to say about 2004 all of yesterday. Last year, I wrote, "I came into [2003] thinking I knew roughly how it would play out, but I didn't know the half of it. I don't have similar expectations of 2004, so it will be interesting to see where my family is a year from now."

We're all okay. Some good things happened in our lives, and life is now pretty good around here overall. But it's been quite a year—and much more so for people in all sorts of places around the world. In the end, here's what I have to say about 2004:

I'm glad that's over.
